BREASTFEEDING PREPARATION

Expecting mothers tend to forget to prepare for breastfeeding before the baby is born. Something to consider is that healthcare providers do not receive any training on breastfeeding therefore provide information that is inaccurate or outdated. Some things you should do are:

  • Learn as much as you can about breastfeeding through reading books and articles concerning breastfeeding and breastfeeding management
  • Meet with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant that you can ask questions about breastfeeding when you have your baby
  • Check to see if you have a La Leche League in your area and attend a couple of meetings before your baby’s birth

Always remember do not hesitate to contact a lactation consultant even prior to having your baby.
